This project in Wembley Downs started with a tired old deck and a massive overgrown Japanese Pepper tree, and some clients who lived much of their lives outdoors and wanted something special. Included in the brief was an outdoor fireplace / cooking oven, TV, BBQ bench and lots of space.
The large existing space was broken down to create more intimate areas - the circular nook around the fire place, a larger space for BBQ and table tennis, and an upper level dining area was created in a separate ‘wing’. An added bonus was the ‘bar’ bench near the BBQ.
Materials of timber and natural stone reflected the styling inside the house, and was further enhanced by lovely Bauwerks lime wash painted walls.
Lighting was kept subtle and ambient (other than functional BBQ lighting), and accommodated a wish for festoon lights which were the only element to be retained from the original garden.
Happy clients, and a stylish and functional space that is used daily…that makes for a super happy designer!
