This tiny courtyard represented an incredibly vital aspect of the client’s newly purchased house, as she felt the exposure and barrenness of the uninspiring area that she had (pick the ‘Before’ photo!). Gardens, green space, and privacy were important to her, and she was keen to have somewhere soothing to sit out in. Needless to say, we removed paving and added LOTS of green. The soothing sound of gentle water movement, and the point of interest to watch the movement of the water were added bonuses which, in such a small area, were so effective. The difference to the space, the way that it is used, and the feeling that the client has towards her house in general is quite remarkable.
